Managing Director of Development
Chris Ballestra is the Managing Director of Development for the City of St. Petersburg, FL. Mr. Ballestra has a diversified range of experience with more than 32 years of corporate development, management and real estate experience in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. Mr. Ballestra is currently responsible for coordination of development projects such as the St. Petersburg PierTM, Museums, Tropicana Field, and the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Mr. Ballestra also oversees operations of the City’s Enterprise Facilities including the Mahaffey Theater, Sunken Gardens, Coliseum, Marina, Port, PierTM, Airport, Woodson Museum, Manhattan Casino and other city assets.
Prior to coming to the City of St. Petersburg in 2008, Mr. Ballestra was formerly a Vice President of Real Estate for the American Heart Association (2000-2008), Asset Manager for Echelon International Corporation (1997-2000) and Project Manager-Joint Ventures for GTE Corporation (1986-1997). He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Mr. Ballestra has proven expertise in real estate development, economic development, property management and asset management. He has achieved his success through interpersonal communication and problem solving skills, dedication, integrity and leadership.
Chris has been affiliated with and continues to participate in many professional and volunteer organizations, is married with two daughters, and a St. Petersburg resident.
